WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
With the amount of young adults affected by cancer each year in Canada and the lack of support and connection options, this is a problem that needed to be addressed.
YOUNG ADULTS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER EACH YEAR IN CANADA
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, every year over 8000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer in Canada alone.
OF YOUNG ADULTS WE SURVEYED WANT MORE CONNECTION
In October of 2017 we set out to gain information from individuals in the young adult cancer community! We spoke with 70+ individuals and 97% of them noted the need for more connection and support.
THOUSAND INVESTED IN TAKE CARE TO DATE
To date, over $13,500 has been invested in Take Care which will allow us to launch the app and make a difference in the young adult cancer community. Some notable sources include GreenHouse and Spark Initiative.
HOW ARE WE DOING IT?
The Take Care App was designed specifically to address many of the issues that young adults with cancer and young adult cancer survivors face related to connection and support.
When faced with cancer, young adults want that meaningful connection and support, they just don’t always know where to find it, but Take Care aims to change that.
